1. What these technologies do
A cookie is a small item a website asks a browser to store and send back on later requests. Local storage and session storage keep data in a browser too, but work differently. Pixels, scripts, and embedded content can transmit information without setting a cookie. The privacy implications depend on what a technology does, not its name.
2. The current site inventory
| Technology | Current use | Purpose / duration |
|---|---|---|
| First-party marketing cookies | Not used | No marketing cookie is set by the journal or policy pages. |
| Analytics & advertising scripts | Not loaded | No analytics or advertising tag is active on these pages. |
| Local / session storage | Not used by these pages | No reading-history or preference identifier is stored. |
| Cloudflare security technologies | May be used if a protection is triggered | Service delivery and abuse prevention; duration depends on the protection and provider configuration. |
| External merchant technologies | Only after you visit that service | Controlled by the destination’s own policy. |
The current site serves its fonts through standard device font stacks and its images, CSS, and icons from this domain. It does not embed a social feed, external video player, or signup widget.
3. Essential security technologies
Our infrastructure provider may use cookies or similar measures for a security challenge, bot detection, or protecting service availability. These are different from optional advertising measurement. For example, Cloudflare may use a clearance cookie after a challenge. Whether it appears depends on the request and the security service applied; not every visitor receives the same cookie.
We do not claim that every technology is essential merely because it is useful to the publisher. If we introduce a technology that needs consent, it must remain inactive until the required choice is made.
4. Optional technologies & consent
There is no “accept all” banner on the launch journal because no optional analytics or marketing technology is loaded. You can read the site without agreeing to advertising cookies. If optional tools are added, we will identify their providers, purposes, and durations, offer the choices required by law, and provide a way to change or withdraw those choices.
Consent to one purpose does not authorize an unrelated one. Closing a notice or continuing to read is not treated as permission to enable a future optional tracking tool.
5. External links
Clicking a link to a different website opens that service. It may collect technical information and use its own cookies or affiliate identifiers. Our current launch articles link to information and internal pages; they do not contain product checkout links. Any later commission-earning link must carry an appropriate page-level disclosure. External sites provide their own privacy controls.
6. Browser controls
Most browsers let you inspect website data, delete cookies, block third-party cookies, and restrict storage. Look for settings called Privacy, Site data, or Cookies in your browser. Clearing data may sign you out of other sites or reset their preferences. Blocking essential security storage can cause a challenge to repeat or prevent a protected service from working.
A browser setting on this site does not delete data already held by a merchant or another service. Contact that service directly to exercise your rights.
